Special Projects
Reconstruction of an 18th Century French Sawmill PRIDE is championing the research into defining an organizational structure, finding funding support, fostering the design, building and opening a historically accurate operational replica of the original 1756 French Water-Powered Sawmill at the top of the Lower Falls of the LaChute River in Ticonderoga. A rendering of the sawmill can be seen at the PRIDE office.
Gateway Signage and LaChute River Trail Signage PRIDE has administered several grants to fund the installation of gateway signs around Ticonderoga and continually identifies sources of funding for repair, replacement, and enhancing the signage around the community. The LaChute River Trail signs are updated to ensure safety and walkability along the trail.
National Historic Register Buildings and Places PRIDE takes a leading role in the conservation and preservation of Ticonderoga’s many historic buildings and places ranging from the historic Community Building housing the Town Offices, to the Frazier Bridge, the double-arch stone bridge that joins only a handful of double-arch bridges left in the world today. Working with the town historian and the Adirondack Architectural Heritage in Keeseville, NY, PRIDE researches and administers grants for numerous historic preservation projects.
Spring and Fall LaChute River Trail Clean-up PRIDE sponsors semi-annual clean-up of the LaChute recruiting volunteers from the community to participate in maintaining the trail, fitness equipment, and the interpretive signs. Local organizations and businesses donate their time and supplies to this effort.
